Welcome, Warmth & Western Hospitality

Inside Our Southern Arizona Visits to Drury Inn - Phoenix Airport & White Stallion Ranch
At Infinite Vagabonds, my goal is to create small group travel experiences for women 50+ that go beyond the usual tourist stops. I seek out places where the spirit of a destination is woven into the hospitality, the stories, and the surroundings—places that feel both welcoming and meaningful.
Earlier this year, I joined a group of 26 tour operators for a tour through Southern Arizona. Over several days, we explored hotels, ranches, cultural attractions, and unique local businesses. In this first part of my recap, I’m sharing two standout site visits: the Drury Inn & Suites - Phoenix Airport and the unforgettable White Stallion Ranch outside Tucson.
🏨 Drury Inn & Suites – Comfort, Convenience, and a Strong Sense of Service
The Drury Inn & Suites - Phoenix Airport welcomed our group with efficiency and professionalism. While the hotel has a modern feel, it also reflects the family-owned values that set Drury properties apart from many chains. During our site visit, we learned about the history of Drury Hotels and their vision for the future—and it’s clear they are committed to quality and hospitality.
We toured two of their guest rooms, which were well-appointed and comfortable, designed with both the business traveler and vacationing guest in mind. For women who value peace of mind, the clean, functional layout and safety-conscious design stood out.
One major highlight: Drury’s included hot breakfast and evening Kickback®—a real bonus for small group tours. The evening Kickback® offers a rotating menu of hot food and cold beverages, including beer and wine, providing a fantastic way to simplify meals while still offering time for social connection at the end of the day. We also enjoyed a thoughtfully packed boxed lunch, and they surprised us with a branded water bottle and brochures as part of our welcome.
Additional amenities that enhance the guest experience include:
Free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel
24-hour business and fitness centers
Indoor and outdoor pool with whirlpool
Microwave and mini-fridge in all rooms
This property would make a strong pre- or post-tour base for groups flying in and out of the Phoenix area. The ease, comfort, and value of this hotel make it especially well-suited for travelers who appreciate consistency and care in their accommodations.
Why It’s Great for Women 50+
Drury Hotels are designed with the needs of travelers in mind—especially those who want convenience without sacrificing comfort. The well-appointed rooms, thoughtful amenities, and safe environment make it ideal for women who seek relaxation and simplicity during their travels. Whether it’s a peaceful night’s sleep before an adventurous day or a place to unwind after exploring, this hotel offers the right balance of rest and activity.
🤠 White Stallion Ranch – A Western Welcome with a Personal Touch
Set against the wide skies and rugged beauty of the Sonoran Desert, White Stallion Ranch is a place where time slows down and stories come to life. Our visit began with a guided walking tour of the grounds, where we took in the rustic charm of the adobe buildings, shaded patios, and desert landscaping.
What struck me most was the authentic warmth of the place. As we wandered, we ran into a few guests—not planted or prepped—who volunteered how much they adored their stay. It’s rare to see guests so genuinely eager to sing a property’s praises on the spot.
We met with the ranch owner, Russell True, who shared his family’s multi-generational story of running the ranch. The pride, passion, and personal connection to the land were immediately apparent—and exactly the kind of legacy our travelers tend to appreciate. It’s more than a business; it’s a way of life.
To top off our visit, we were treated to an elegant afternoon cheese platter and refreshments served in one of their group meeting spaces. It was the kind of peaceful, welcoming setting where guests (and tour groups) could easily unwind, swap stories, or simply take in the desert view.
White Stallion Ranch offers a variety of activities and amenities that cater to a range of interests:
Horseback riding for all skill levels
Rodeo demonstrations and evening entertainment
Heated outdoor pool, hot tub, and fitness center
Spa services for relaxation
Guided hikes and nature walks
Petting zoo and recreational sports courts
Why It’s Great for Women 50+
White Stallion Ranch is ideal for women who want to enjoy the beauty of the desert in a peaceful, yet engaging way. Whether you’re a beginner rider or a seasoned equestrian, the ranch offers a variety of experiences that let you immerse yourself in the landscape at your own pace. The family-oriented atmosphere, combined with the chance to engage in outdoor activities or relax at the ranch, offers the perfect escape for women who appreciate both adventure and relaxation.
